LUDHIANA: In the state's pilot project of the government to computerize the district transport offices (DTO), the city office has got the machines and other IT accessories from the Central government but it is not clear who will provide operators.
After the DTO office had repeatedly demanded computer operators from the secretary of the department of transport and deputy commissioner, no one could provide the facility.

This happened even as the local authorities were supposed to upload all the files onto the computers till June 30 this year. District transport officer Ashwani Kumar said, "Hardware and software equipment required for the computerisation of the department is available with us. Even networking of the system has been completed. Now, what we need are computer operators."
He further said, "A number of times, I have written to the secretary of the transport department and the DC to provide us 5-10 computer operators for the process of data entry. But still no authority has fulfilled our demand."
Deputy commissioner Rahul Tiwari said that the file concerning the demand of the computer operators was pending with his department. He said, "We are ready to provide the computer operators. I had told the DTO to discuss the technical matters on the issue."
